I've been getting many DMs asking 🫣 about my internship at ISRO, including how I got selected, the process, and the requirements.

Some things to know before applying to this Internship

First and foremost, you need patience and a genuine curiosity about how these things work and how they can help you learn and grow.

To clarify, this is a Research Internship, and having prior knowledge about the relevant technologies is crucial. It’s not designed for beginners or for learning from scratch but rather for those who already have some understanding and can contribute effectively to the project.

When the scientists call you for an Interview call, they’ll discuss the project and may ask questions about the work they’re doing. If you’ve previously worked on similar technologies or have a good grasp of the subject, you’ll be able to participate meaningfully.

In my perspective, if you lack sufficient knowledge, you may struggle to contribute or gain significant insights from the experience. Therefore, it’s essential to have a solid foundation in the field before applying.

(It may vary in different SAC, I am giving it for SAC-ISRO Ahmedabad, but mostly it would be the same process)

1️⃣ Application Process: Visit the SAC website, download the application form, print it out, and fill it out. Attached are required documents, such as a Letter of Recommendation (LOR). Obtain approval from your Principal or Head of Department (HoD), then email the completed form to srtd@sac.isro.gov.in. If your HoD sends the email, ensure you're CC'd.

2️⃣ Selection Process: The review may take 1-1.5 months. If shortlisted, you'll receive a call, An ISRO scientist will discuss the project and conduct an interview. After that, you will receive confirmation that you are selected for the internship🤩.

3️⃣ Requirements: Show strong interest in the project, eagerness to learn, and basic relevant skills. Enthusiasm plays a key role.

Some Tips to Make Things Possible 🚀

• Ask your HoD/Principal to send the application email for a more professional approach.

• Take more than 3 months to contribute to your project and deepen your knowledge.

• Engage with colleagues and interact with other departments to expand your learning. I was nervous at first but made friends who helped me explore how things work.

• Contribute something valuable to the project so your guide can see your efforts.

• Enjoy the journey and make the most of the experience! 🌟
